- Who doesn't love a good novelty toaster? This one's like a defibrillator! Imagine how dramatic your breakfast could be: "Live, damn it, live! You've never given up on anything in your life, now fight! Fight!!"
- There are already way too many versions of Monopoly out there, and a DC Universe-themed one would make exactly no sense, so it's probably just as well the project got cancelled. But I still love these sketches by Mike Allred for the Community Chest cards. (Via)
- At last, some plot details for Lars von Trier's upcoming sci-fi epic, Melancholia. Intriguing.
- The Venice Film Festival's competition lineup sounds pretty impressive. Included are the latest projects from Sofia Coppola (Somewhere, starring Stephen Dorff), Tom Tykwer (Three), Takashi Miike (13 Assassins), Vincent Gallo (Promises Written in Water), Darren Aronofsky (Black Swan), and Tsui Hark (Detective Dee and the Mystery of Phantom Flame).
- That Total Recall readaptation is on the way, with direction by Len Wiseman (Underworld, Live Free or Die Hard) and writing by Kurt Wimmer (Law Abiding Citizen, Salt, Equilibrium). Hmmm...
- Various Grant Morrison movies are in the works! Woo hoo!
- This teaser trailer for Sinbad: The Fifth Voyage isn't particularly impressive, but the filmmakers appear to be following in Ray Harryhausen's footsteps, which could be fun.

Hulk glad big green monster on McDonalds' recalled, toxic kids' glasses was not Hulk. Although Hulk would dearly like there to be non-toxic Happy Meal toy version of Hulkself. Once McDonalds gets poison situation worked out, McDonalds should call Hulk. |

- An amusing, Lovecraftian episode of Dork Tower.
- Famous fantasy illustrator Frank Frazetta recently died. Here's a pretty fantastic tribute.
- This incredibly cool new trailer for Inception actually explains what the movie is about (via). And here's a gallery of screencaps from the trailer, to examine at your leisure.
- More amazingly inventive art from Enrique Alcatena.
- Looks like we have a plot synopsis for the next Riddick movie. But it sounds suspiciously like a mashup of the plots of the first two movies.
- A new Judge Dredd movie is on the way, and naturally it will be in 3D.
- Awesome image of the Creature from the Black Lagoon rocking out.
- Great shirts recasting literary heroes as members of sports teams. And while we're talking cool shirts, here are more funny and clever designs from Threadless.
- Another cool LEGO CubeDude: Boba Fett.
- Heh. Pretty clever sleeping bag design.
- Amusing Pac-Man propaganda poster.
- Cool Alice in Wonderland and Totoro fan art. (Via)
- I would love to have one of these. I'd constantly give it to people, immediately snatch it away, then say, "Again we see there is nothing you can possess which I cannot take away." Then I'd hold it up and laugh maniacally. (Via)
- Dude, you can play Space Paranoids online!! It's pretty hard. Also note that it doesn't seem to work in Chrome, which I think is lame; I had to play it in IE. Still, fun. (Via)
- Check out the A to Z of Wolverine. Surprisingly excellent. (Via)

- Terry Gilliam is going to direct an opera about Faust. Nice. (Via)
- Band of Horses is letting you download a track off their new album for free. Just go to their website and punch in your date of birth and email address. (Via)
- Colorful, violent kaiju art! Huzzah!
- Check out the trailer for The Witches of Oz, a sort of sequel to The Wizard of Oz in which an adult Dorothy discovers the popular books were based on her own true adventures as a child and that Oz is now invading our own world. The movie looks a bit cheesy, but the cast includes Christopher Lloyd, Sean Astin, Lance Henriksen, Billy Boyd, and Jeffrey Combs. It's not the only Oz movie on the way, either; Sam Mendes will direct a prequel to The Wizard of Oz entitled Oz the Great and Powerful, and Robert Downey Jr. might play the Wizard.
- A rather amusing, slightly spoilery Serenity web comic. It helps that it references a classic Warner Bros. cartoon.
- Kirsten Dunst has joined the cast of Lars von Trier's upcoming sci-fi disaster movie, Melancholia. I hope she knows what she's getting into!
- Darth Vader makes a cameo on a condom. Apparently he's saying, "I will not be your father!" Heh.
- Pretty cool minimalist comic book character posters.
- A woman in the UK built an incredibly detailed scale model of Bag End. Awesome. I wish there were more photos!
- James Cameron says the Avatar sequel will focus on Pandora's oceans - which isn't surprising, given Cameron's obsession with oceans.
- "An Italian inventor... has developed a huge three-dimensional printer called D-Shape that can print entire buildings out of sand and an inorganic binder." The printer could be used to build moon bases.
- A look at Josh Brolin in his Jonah Hex makeup.

- A new batch of pics from Iron Man 2.
- Pretty cool teaser trailer for the Gatchaman movie that will never be.
- Good Show Sir is a blog celebrating the worst sci-fi/fantasy book covers. Although, I think some of these are actually pretty cool... (Via)
- The anatomy of a Tribble.
- Some pretty amazing photographs of the volcanic eruption in Iceland, complete with apocalyptic lightning.
- Sam L. Jackson says the upcoming Avengers movie is mostly about his character, Nick Fury, and that he'll also be making an apperance in Captain America, but not in Thor.
- Previously the only reason to go into a 7-Eleven is if there was no Wawa nearby, but now there's another reason: they're going to start selling used video games for 20 bucks or less.
- Fans have released an updated version of Super Smash Bros. Brawl that's supposed to be more balanced with fewer opportunities for players to get cheap and take advantage of overpowered combos and the like. Supposedly you can load it up right from an SD card, without having to hack your Wii.
- This week (until Saturday) Target is offering $20 Wii, Microsoft, and PSN point cards for just $17. Good deal!
- I love these illustrations for nonexistent fairy tales.
- Looks like the rumors were true, and the James Bond franchise is on hold due to MGM's budget woes. Sad face.

- io9 interviews M. Night Shyamalan about The Last Airbender. He admits balancing the humor with the edginess was hard. He says his kids forced him to put Momo in the movie, but that he also had no choice but to cut a lot of other things, including the cabbage salesman (sadness!). He's determined to do three movies. It sounds like in one of those later films he might actually reveal what happens to Zuko's mom, which was one of the few loose ends left untied in the series. He also talks about Miyazaki being a huge influence, which is encouraging. I remain cautiously optimistic about these movies.
- Christopher Walken as M.O.D.O.K.
- A milk jug that knows when the milk has gone bad.
- Stephen Dorff has joined the cast of War of the Gods as Stavros, "a master thief who joins Theseus on his quest to help free Greece from the dark threat of the Titans."
- You've gotta love the fake company websites they make for big movies these days. Check out the site for Stark Expo 2010 (for Iron Man 2, via), and the site for Encom International (for Tron Legacy).
- The first trailer for Metroid: Other M focused on the story and the melodrama, and it sucked; this new trailer focuses on the action and the gameplay and it's much, much better. In fact, this game looks awesome.
- I love this Disney/Magritte mashup T-shirt.
- Lots of impressive work from the Society of Illustrators 2010 Student Scholarship competition.
- A fan made a brilliant, thrilling, action-packed trailer for the original Tron.
- Speaking of fan-made trailers, here's one for an imaginary Battlestar Galactica spin-off called The Twelve Colonies, set during the first big war with the Cylons.
- I hate umbrellas, but even I might go out of my way to purchase one if it had a broadsword handle.
- Sony BMG took down Beyonce's official YouTube channel for copyright infringement. Hahahahahaha!

- Good lord. They're going to remake the horrible MST3K Sasquatch film The Legend of Boggy Creek.
- Sounds like Bryan Singer directing X-Men: First Class isn't a done deal after all.
- Olivia Munn's original cameo in Iron Man 2 ended up being a bit too lighthearted for the film's dark tone, so they cut it out, made her an entirely different character, and shot all new scenes with her. Still no word on who she's playing, though.
- NBC just announced a new show called Camelot which will be a contemporary retelling of the King Arthur legend, written by Torchwood's former showrunner.
- Nintendo's making a DS that has 3D! And you don't need glasses to see it! How that works I don't know, but it sounds cool.
- Guile is guilty of vandalism, and there's video proof!
- Chainable USB plugs!
- Cute Star Wars illustrations.
- Here's a trailer for Blue People: The Movie.
- Wow! Warner Bros. wouldn't let Louis Leterrier make Clash of the Titans until he wrote two other movies and promised them a trilogy! They really love the franchises there.
- A review of Red Steel 2. Joystiq says it's not really a hardcore FPS, and focuses really strongly on swordplay, which sounds good to me!
- Hamlet: The Video Game is on the way. Damn it, that was my idea!
- Pretty clever James Bond/Duck Hunt mashup T-shirt. (Via)
- Cool head-shaped sculpture/building in a forest, and excellent Princess Mononoke cosplay.
- Scream 4 is finally really moving forward, maybe, with Wes Craven, Kevin Williamson, and the major cast members all on board.
- A 3D Popeye movie??
- Another fun illustration for A Wrinkle in Time.
- Nice Street Fighter II tattoo!
- You may think a bouquet of red roses says love, but no! The true symbol of love is a bouquet of bacon.
- A sweet Batmobile limo and a cool list of the top five expanded universe Star Wars stories, which includes one of my favorite episodes of Clone Wars. (Via)
- Hey, nice art. (Via)

- Above is a video where a bunch of folks took tweets not written by them and turned them into short short films. I thought it would be lame, but it's surprisingly hilarious and brilliant. Oh, and also slightly NSFW. (Via)
- Tim Burton's got a new movie coming out today, and College Humor takes the opportunity to reveal his secret formula. Yeah, he does get a bit repetitive, doesn't he? I still want to see his Alice, though, despite some bad buzz.
- io9 has put together a pretty excellent heavy metal gaming playlist for you. Tons of fantastic music here. Sadly, the downloads all appear to be short samples and not full songs.
- Comparing the final scene of Back to the Future with its recreation in Back to the Future II.
- Hilariously confused and confusing bookbag.
- A mean, nasty, dishonest, clever, funny way to get a cheap iPod.
- New Futurama on Comedy Central in June!!
- Guy Ritchie could be directing the new version of Excalibur written by Warren Ellis. I am so there.
- A cute version of the white rabbit of Wonderland.
- A PDF of a pretty brilliant Star Wars-themed parody of the children's book Goodnight Moon. It's called Goodnight Forest Moon. (Via)
- Check out a collection of amazing posters from The Lost Art of Inglourious Basterds.
- Another awesome and exciting image from Tron Legacy.
