I kind of wanted to do a weekend post, which I haven't done in a while, so I looked over Google News for something to talk about/link to, and here's two random things that stuck out:
- Apple to switch to Intel chips - Holy crap. Seriously? Apple and Intel? Next thing you know, Macs will be running Windows.
- US has secret jails - I thought I was pretty much jaded about how incredibly corrupt and immoral (perhaps amoral would be more accurate) our government has become, but this story still kind of blew me away. Maybe there's nothing to the allegations, but I kind of doubt the chief of Amnesty International USA would come out with something like that without some pretty strong evidence to back it up.
As for me, I had an okay weekend. Friday night, we all skipped out on the softball game, but it was just as well, as that gave poppy and I time to pick out carpet and get that whole process scheduled. Saturday poppy went to her rather disappointing and sparsely populated reunion, and I hung out with kheara and the bloginator and his baby and his wife all day--it was nice of them to have me all that time! I had a fine day, ate lots of tasty food, and helped them assemble a few products they bought. Bloginator also screened for me the original Batman movie. I knew it was going to be bad, but...wow. It's pretty bad. Yes, it's that way deliberately, but that didn't make it any less bad, or any less difficult to watch. I'll admit there were amusing bits, but I'm afraid that style of Batman is just not up my alley.
As for today, poppy and I spent it doing various chores. Oh, and I fit in a whole crap-load of Paper Mario this weekend, too. Damn, but I do enjoy that game. |
