Curiosities and Police Actions
 by Fëanor

  • Well, I still say the concept for Horrors of War - Nazi zombies and werewolves! - is fantastic, but apparently the execution was sub-par at best. Seriously, check out the trailer. This thing looks absolutely awful. Terrible effects, worse acting, lame dialogue, cliched camerawork and story. In short, it's garbage. I know, I shouldn't be surprised, and I guess I'm not. But I am disappointed. (Via The Movie Blog)

  • Jessica Simpson could be the next Bond girl. My first, knee-jerk response to this was, "Oh fuck please no!" My second, more considered response, after mulling it over, was, "Well, I don't know, she's kind of hot, why not?"

  • Apparently we're looking at a late 2007 release date for the film adaptation of Prince Caspian, the second entry in the Chronicles of Narnia series. The synopsis of the book which The Movie Blog quotes from Amazon refers to Prince Caspian as the "fourth installment" of the series, and in terms of chronology within the Narnia universe that's correct, but in terms of the original release chronology favored by me and, I think, most fans of the books, it is indeed number two. Anyways, I'll be looking forward to the flick.

  • In my post celebrating my subjugation by the iPod, I mentioned - facetiously - that perhaps I should buy a hat or other clothing for my naked new device. Well, thanks to Defective Yeti's annual Holiday Survival Guide for Slacker's, I now know that this is actually possible. In fact, not only can you get any number of hats for your iPod, you can also get a hat rack, and/or any of various costumes, including cowboy and pirate. And of course, holiday attire is also available.

    Good lord, people.

Btw, I didn't find the Holiday Guide as hilarious as I would have liked this year, but I did enjoy Matthew's comments on the NASCAR Crock-Pot.

  • The internet was mainly a boring and empty wasteland today, but I was mildly amused by this article (which requires registration) and this website, both brought to you by Backwards City, and both about the World Canine Freestyle Organization which, they are quick to point out, has nothing to do with swimming with your dog, and everything to do with dancing with your dog. I found the video of the woman dancing with her dog to the strains of "Silent Night" (which you'll find on the website that I've linked to above) poorly filmed and a bit underwhelming, but still strangely fascinating.
