Pits and Cores
 by Fëanor

  • A movie of Cat's Cradle? I really don't see how they could not screw this up.

  • More remote-controlled Mario goodness from Joystiq.

  • So CGI technology has increased to the point that we can now make images that look like...really, really good models?

Okay, okay, that image is pretty impressive; very detailed and so forth. But it's still obviously fake. And besides, why are game companies spending so much money and time getting images that are as close as possible to "real" when gamers like myself would be perfectly happy with a few polygons strapped together with string as long as the gameplay was decent? Seriously.

  • I'm not sure there was a movie I was less interested in seeing than Poseidon, the upcoming remake of The Poseidon Adventure, but now I've seen the trailer (via Cinematical), and I have to say, although I still almost certainly wouldn't actively seek out the film, I'd now be willing to go see it with somebody if they asked me along. The movie actually looks pretty exciting and well-made, with lots of great talent involved, including director Wolfgang Petersen.

  • Btw, I've experienced this bug with various Quicktime movies, including the trailer above, and I wanted to see if anybody else has seen this. I go to watch the "large" version of the movie, and it sits there apparently loading for a bit, then shows me the "Q" Quicktime icon with a question mark on it, which apparently means something went wrong. However, if I go back and try to watch the "small" version of the movie, it will pop right up. I find that if I then leave the small version behind, before it even finishes loading all the way, and go back to the large version, the large version will now load right up and work perfectly.

    WTF?

Well, at least I found a work-around. Still, why Apple products gotta be so buggy? :p
