  • Thanks to jay is games, I've been enjoying this wonderful Flash shooter called Pop Pirates. The concept is, pirates have hacked into your system and are using viruses to try to steal your music files. You have to get in there, zap them, and get your music back. Love that story, and the classic shooter gameplay, wherein you fly about avoiding bullets and enemies and shooting them down to acquire points and power-ups, occasionally meeting a boss enemy that's tougher than the rest. But, even better than regular shooters, Pop Pirates lets you keep all your power-ups, even if you die. Sweet!

This game is smooth and cool and clever. The only thing it's lacking is, well, more. It's not very long at all before you've experienced pretty much everything the game has to offer, and you're just meeting the same enemies over again, though this time perhaps a little bigger or faster. Still, Pop Pirates is a great way to kill some time if you're bored.

  • Speaking of time-wasters, Download Squad's Time Waster of the day is Conqueror, a war strategy game on the lines of Risk or Axis and Allies. This one looked a lot more involved than Pop Pirates so I haven't tried it just yet, but I plan to as soon as I get the chance. Meanwhile, those of you who are bored can give it a shot and let me know what you think.

  • Heh. Heh heh. Video games are great. Technology is awesome. The world is a wonderful place.

  • This is excellent: debunking eight popular myths about video games, including those having to do with the much ballyhooed link between video games and violence. This is very pleasing to me. Great analyses and deconstructions of various thoughts and ideas about video games. Give it a read. (Via Joystiq)

  • Hey...wait a minute! Is that...Sarcasmo?!?
