Dark Demons of Hate
 by Fëanor

  • Defective Yeti's annual Boardgame Gift Guide is here! Rejoice, o ye peoples! I'm sad to say that I've played only one of these (Ra), and heard of only one more (Shadows Over Camelot) - clearly I haven't been keeping up with the cool new boardgames.

Although a number of these look a little too child-oriented for me (Poison, Diamant), others sound quite interesting (Shadows Over Camelot, Nexus Ops). And I haven't gotten a new boardgame in a while. Hmm...

  • After a long drought of Phillyist articles by me, suddenly, a deluge! The latest is on the Reading Terminal Holiday Railroad Display, and features a photo by yours truly!

  • Somebody's come up with a clever gadget - the GLUCOBOY. It's a glucose meter that hooks onto your kid's Gameboy and downloads games into it as a reward if the kid has been keeping good control of his blood-sugar levels. I could probably use something like this for myself...

  • Vis Major emailed me this amazing link - check out the video. It's supposed to be a commercial for a new Sony TV, but really it's a stunningly beautiful short film/performance art piece/music video. Wait through the long download and watch the extended version; you won't regret it. The amazing song by Jose Gonzalez has a lot to do with why this is so good. His album's been on my Amazon Wish List for a while - maybe it's time for me to purchase...

  • I'm not sure whether to curse or praise dje2004 for pointing me toward Pandora. It's a service created by the Music Genome Project. Basically, you give it a hint as to what kind of music you like (artist or song), and it loads up your own personal streaming radio station of music. You refine the choices it makes by telling it whether you like or don't like the things it plays for you. You can try it without logging in for a few songs, and then you have to register, but that's free, too, as long as you don't mind seeing a few ads. My Radiohead station has been working out amazingly well for me so far. Pandora already figured out that I also like Death Cab for Cutie and stellastarr*, and played me a bunch of other bands I'd never heard of before that I really liked - along with one or two that were pretty crummy, but it's certainly better than your average radio station. Hopefully I won't break the bank on music purchases because of this thing...

  • I'd heard the Xbox 360 power adapter was huge, but holy crap!!!

  • Speaking of funny pictures on Joystiq, despite the fact that it's really tasteless and mean-spirited, the image paired with this article totally cracked me up. Which is good, because the article itself pissed me off. Stupid player-haters...

  • I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm going to: Silence! The Musical. It's the parody musical version of Silence of the Lambs! All nine songs are free to download, including "Put The Fucking Lotion In The Basket." (Via Cinematical)

UPDATE: Okay, I've listened to a good portion of it now. Some of it is quite funny, but all of it is also, as you might expect, seriously wrong. And also, as should be obvious, not at all safe for work.

  • Well, I did the letter to Santa, so obviously I had to do the follow-up letter to Cthulhu (via Yagathai). Sorry for feeding you to that Shoggoth, kheara, but what could I do? It was hungry!

    Oh Great Cthulhu!

I have been an extremely busy devotee this year.

In February, I visited my relatives in Innsmouth (100 points). In September, I prepared an ocean voyage to R'lyeh (200 points). In January, I defiled the grave of that traitor, Lovecraft (90 points). When the stars were right, I called down the wrath of Yog-Sothoth upon [info]vis_major (65 points). In August, I rammed a ship into you (sorry Cthulhu!) (-1000 points). In October, I fed [info]kheara to a Shoggoth (250 points).

In short, I have been very bad (-295 points) and deserve to be left to whimper as my mind shatters before the vision of your greatness.

    Your humble and obedient servant,

Submit your own plea to Cthulhu!
