Vital
 by Fëanor

My brother and I used to have a jointly owned copy of Pearl Jam's Vitalogy, but it was lost to me in the Great CD Divide*. Quite deliberately, too; at the time, I'd decided the album just wasn't that great, and had too many weird and creepy tracks on it that I didn't like. In the years since, I've missed certain songs off it and considered asking my brother to burn me a copy, but never actually got around to it. Then just recently I had the chance to reacquire the album thanks to a coworker's generosity. And I have to say, I was totally wrong about Vitalogy. It's fantastic, and definitely one of Pearl Jam's best albums. I would still happily do without "Hey Foxymophandlemama, That's Me" (seriously, wtf?), but "Corduroy" and "Not for You" are essential songs that everyone should own. I'm a big fan of "Spin the Black Circle," "Whipping," and "Last Exit," too. I even like "Bugs." Actually, looking back over all the tracks, "HFTM" is really the only bad one on there.

Sometimes I wish I could come to a final opinion on music a little faster, but I suppose it's fun having these sudden, late revelations, too.

* This is what I call what my brother and I did when we were going our separate ways and had to split up our CD collection. Mostly it involved us burning tons of CDs so neither of us would have to go without anything.
