I think I'm officially an old lady. I shushed the boys that congregate around my desk no less than four times this afternoon, and I'll probably have to do so again before the night is out. I'm also old because I'm getting frustrated by their game playing. They play this game called Runescape, which is fine. Everyone has the right to play any game that pleases them. What makes me batty is that it is an interactive game. So they are sitting down at computers and interacting with each other in a virtual environment. But that's not enough! Oh no! We need to interact in person about our virtual interactions. The bartering that goes on in this place... Tonight, one boy offerred another two packs of gum and a dollar for some amount of virtual game money. My question is, if it's going to be involved as all that, why don't they go outside and play. This would of course have the added benefit of my not having to shush all day long, thereby alleviating my feeling like I'm an old crotchety lady. |
