Coming at You Live From Rehoboth Beach...
 by Fëanor

Greetings! As should be obvious by now, I managed to get some internet access after all.

Some notes on things so far: first of all, EZ Pass is even cooler down here in Delaware. You don't have to slow down or anything. They give you your own lanes off to the side and you just zoom past all the poor chumps who have to stop and pay their tolls the normal way, with actual money. It's awesome.

All things considered, the drive down here was pretty easy. We hit a little traffic, but it wasn't too bad, and we still made it in less than two and a half hours.

The hotel, the lobby of which I am sitting in right now, is pretty awesome. Poppy's being pampered at the spa right now. Last night we enjoyed the jacuzzi that's in our room. It's just sitting in there, next to the bed! We went out and picked up some champagne last night (after an excellent down-home Delaware dinner at the local Cracker Barrel), only to get home and realize there was already a bottle in the fridge in our room, complimentary.

There is one thing about the place that really disappoints me, though. I brought along my Game Cube (with poppy's blessings, I might add!), certain that I'd be able to hook it up and do some gaming while I was here. But the TV in the room, though it is certainly modern, is lacking audio/video ports of any kind! Seriously, there's nothing on this thing. I searched it up and down and backwards and forwards multiple times. You couldn't even hook up a damn VCR! It blows my mind.

Luckily, I brought my Game Boy Advance, and there's an arcade up on the boardwalk (which is merely a block away). I got my video game fix there earlier this afternoon. Not a lot of great machines there, but it was okay. I was surprised to find gambling games of various sorts side by side with the arcade games. It doesn't seem quite right somehow...

The boardwalk isn't too big, but it has the normal assortment of stores and restaurants, some of which are open, and it's nice to walk up and down it and watch the waves and the gulls.

They have a strange obsession with death around here. There's a Slaughter Beach and a Killbroad Beach. We've decided to avoid those places. They also have a weird pizza franchise: Grotto Pizza. They're all over the place, and not a Pizza Hut or a Domino's in sight. I'm curious to try it out, but poppy is grossed out by their name and their ads (the slice of pizza on the billboards does look pretty disgusting, I must admit). But it turns out there's also a Dogfish Head Brewings & Eats restaurant and bar nearby, and I might get her to accompany me there tonight.

Anyways, I've only got about eight minutes left here, so I'll wrap it up. Hope all you folks are having a good weekend. We're enjoying it down here.
