On the Viewer - Fringe (Season 2, Episode 9 - "Snakehead")
 by Fëanor

Tentacled monsters! Fringe is going Lovecraftian!! I love it!

Turns out you can make valuable drugs with the guts of hideous squids/parasites/worms.

Woah, the bit with the razor blade was disturbing and unexpected.

Walter: "If only all parasitic worms were full of narcotics."

Astrid: "Walter, you are not going to smoke this thing."

Okay, definitely something weird about OCD, clean-freak investor lady.

Walter's getting all natty and independent.

Aww, Walter and Astrid are friends. <3

Woah! Gang members invading the lab! Scary stuff.

It's tough watching poor Walter crying on the streets, broke, lost, and alone. John Noble is such a good actor.

Peter decides to go into the proverbial lion's den alone, and tells Walter to stay in the car. Walter tells him, "This is not a good idea, son." WALTER IS RIGHT! Peter is seriously dumb sometimes. Although I love it when he reveals he is incredibly well-versed in random, obscure things, like Cantonese, Chinese Triad tattoos, and picking locks.

Ooh, good continuity! Walter's singing that song about the lion again, from that one episode a long time ago.

The scene between Astrid and Walter is very touching. I love the relationships they're building among these characters. I also love that Walter's reaction to his inability to be independent is to perform surgery on himself in order to implant a tracking device in his neck.

Good episode! I like very much that the story about squid monsters, while fun, was really just a medium through which to illuminate and develop the characters and the relationships among them. This is a good show.
