As Promised, More Graphic Novel Reviews!
 by Fëanor

Death of Superman - Yeah, this wasn't so good, maybe partially because I didn't know Doomsday's backstory. But I'm not clear on whether anybody reading this story for the first time knew his backstory, either. It's just ridiculously anti-climactic to have some big random monster dude show up and punch Superman until he dies. What the hell kind of way is that for Superman to die?! He's fucking Superman!!! Super-fucking-man! Superman! All the supervillains in the multi-verse should have to show up and attack him from behind while he's blind and helpless and wearing a Kryptonite straightjacket, and he still should kill about 80% of them before they finally get him. I mean, c'mon now. Superman!

Also, the writing was horrible. There was way too much unnecessary dialogue and thought balloons. We don't need to know that the character is thinking, "Oh no! My house is on fire and my Mom and little sister are trapped inside! I hope Superman will hear me scream so he can come back and save them!" Because, you know, we can tell that by looking at the pictures with our eyes.

Futurama: Time Bender Trilogy of Terror - A Tale Told in Four Parts - This was kind of odd. It was exactly like "Futurama" in every way - same sense of humor, same art, same characters, same style, etc. - but I just didn't find it quite as funny. I mean, I guess I chuckled a few times, but I never laughed out loud, and I always laugh out loud multiple times when watching "Futurama" the TV show. Are the voices and sound effects that important to the humor? Perhaps...
