• Joe Quesada's Twitter feed isn't always all that interesting, but the other day he went through his process for creating a piece of art for the 50th anniversary of the Fantastic Four, and it was really cool. Plus, the piece came out great. Luckily, Comics Alliance collected the entire sequence of tweets.

Until Griffin demands whatever the newest thing is, of course, and I'll have no choice to meet his demands. No choice, I tell you!

• Elisabeth Sladen, who played Sarah Jane Smith on Doctor Who, has passed away. Sadness. All the old Doctor Who actors seem to be going away.


• io9 gives us a glimpse of what Star Trek TV shows by William Shatner and Bryan Singer might have been like. Shatner's sounds awful, but Singer's has promise.


• Check out this cool 30-second ad for X-Men: First Class. This movie could work after all!


• This Super Punch link roundup includes the imaginary menu at Guy Fieri's Passover dinner (the article's pretty harsh to poor Guy Fieri, whom I rather like, but still pretty funny), as well as links to all the character fatalities, stage fatalities and babalities in Mortal Kombat 9. Not that Mortal Kombat was ever subtle or tasteful, but man, they've really gone overboard with this one. All the characters are constantly covered in blood and gore, all the women have huge breasts and skimpy clothing (even the four-armed monster woman!), and pretty much every fatality involves gory dismemberment. Ugh.

• Hey, it's Mumm-Ra the ever-living! What a guy! I always loved that subtitle, "the ever-living."


• The latest entry on Making Game of Thrones is about designing the throne room.


• Oh man, Indiana Jones and the Curse of the Cosmic Cube would be so awesome. Way better than Crystal Skull, surely.


• Paramount just greenlit a movie version of The Martian Chronicles. I'm not sure it'd be possible to make a good film adaptation of that book - it seems uniquely... bookish; delicate and lyrical and easily ruined - but I'd be excited to see someone try.


• Here's the first episode of the new web series, Mortal Kombat: Legacy. But yeah, don't bother watching it unless you're really curious or a superfan. It's composed almost entirely of cliches. Also, if you're going to shoot a person with a gun, why would you move really close to that person first? You've got a gun! It hits people from far away! Sigh.


• Here's a cool thing: a World of Warcraft player hit the level cap without ever killing anything, and completing only one quest. The person apparently leveled up almost entirely via exploring and discovering.


• AT-AT for America seems like a worthy cause. Let's do this, people!

• I posted this to Twitter a while back, but it's worth another link: George R.R. Martin's top 10 fantasy films. A lot of great picks here. I'm especially excited about the inclusion of Ladyhawke, a little film from the '80s that my brother and I seriously adored when we were younger.

I guess because his version wouldn't really allow for a Justice League movie? Finally, some new images from X-Men: First Class which do not in any way assuage my trepidation about this film.


• Peter Jackson is sticking more ladies into The Hobbit. Which is a noble goal and all, but still... you're rewriting my Bible, man!!

• This video short which covers what happens between Tron and Tron: Legacy, as well as a bit of what happens after the end of Tron: Legacy, is a bit cheesy, like anything Tron-related, but also rather fun and cleverly done.


• The "Making Game of Thrones" blog has started a series of video features on the various noble houses. First up, naturally, is House Stark. Plus, there's another awesome, awesome trailer for the show as a whole.


• Here's a dude who buys boring landscape paintings at yard sales and then adds monsters to them. Excellent.


• I can't be the only one who thinks this teaser trailer for the new Conan the Barbarian is terrible. Seriously, it's like a parody of bad action movie trailers, complete with a "THIS SUMMER" opening and a ridiculously growly-voiced narrator. Plus it shows you absolutely nothing, and the dialog is terrible.


• In case you haven't seen it yet, the trailer for Super 8 is really worth watching. This looks and sounds like vintage Spielberg.


• A very colorful car crash: a truck carrying 8,000 gallons of printer ink flipped and busted open, spilling various colors of ink all over the road.

• IBM is pitting its supercomputer Watson against the two most successful Jeopardy contestants yet in a special episode of the quiz show which will air February 14th. We don't know what happened in the real match yet, but we do know that the computer won the practice round.

• NASA is auctioning off a huge number of items on January 13th. Check out a preview here. Up for sale are the flight plan that went to the moon, a lunar meteorite, and Buzz Aldrin's 8th grade report card. (Via)


• The guy who made the Tin Man and Alice miniseries for Syfy is making a four-hour Peter Pan prequel called Neverland - you can watch a behind-the-scenes teaser video here. The filmmaker tells us it will reveal what Neverland is, and where Peter Pan and the Lost Boys came from. Which are things I think we're better off not knowing, actually, but... okay. Interestingly, Bob Hoskins will reprise the role of Smee, which he first played in 1991's Hook.


• A synopsis and some pics from Steven Spielberg's upcoming time-traveling adventure TV show, Terra Nova.


• Blastr collected together the 55 "hottest" trailers for movies coming out this year, in case you want to kill some time watching a ton of videos.


• A gigantic infographic featuring every Batmobile ever (supposedly - it's hard to believe they managed to include every single one, seeing as how there have been so many).

• Wow, Fringe has got a crazy awesome promotional dealie going on. In the next episode, Walter is going to meet his musical idol, the keyboardist for a '70s band called Violet Sedan Chair. The crazy bit is, the show's producers actually created a vinyl album by Violet Sedan Chair called Seven Suns and shipped copies to record stores around the country. Each copy is unique and contains clues and spoilers about the show hidden in the lyrics and liner notes. Awesome.


• I've already posted about the rumor that Orlando Bloom might return as Legolas in The Hobbit, and how I think that could work. But now there's a rumor going about that Elijah Wood might reprise his role as Frodo, and that makes less sense, seeing as how his character wasn't born yet during the events of The Hobbit. I guess they could use him in some kind of frame story, but that seems rather lame and unnecessary.

• One of the more inventive and amusing year-end lists I've seen: the Onion A.V. Club takes a look back at the year in band names.


• Syfy made the fascinating and rather depressing decision to just dump out the five remaining episodes of Caprica all at once last night and be done with it. The Onion A.V. Club reviews them here so you don't even have to watch them!


• Interestingly, despite claims that the internet would kill it, TV was apparently still going strong in 2010, with more Americans watching it than ever.


• A series of Street Fighter/Tron mashups. Nice!


• Dude built his own lightsaber, modeled after Luke's own homemade Jedi weapon from Return of the Jedi. Impressive. Most impressive.
