...why was I in Old City taking pictures of men's rooms last night? Because Old City was the setting for a preview screening of Push that I was attending. My full review will go up on Phillyist tomorrow, but the short version is: great visuals, great ideas, great effects, great action, but a very weak plot.

Before I went to the screening, I stopped at Sonny's Famous Steaks to grab a bite to eat. They make a pretty fine cheesesteak, and plus X-Men: The Last Stand was on the TV, so it was good times.

Before I went to Sonny's, I stopped at Brave New Worlds to buy this week's new comic book releases. I don't normally go to Brave New Worlds, but since I was going to be in Old City anyway, it only made sense to stop there for my comics. But once I got there, I was reminded why I don't normally go there: it's really not a very good comic shop. First of all, they have an extremely limited selection of back issues, trade paperbacks, and hardcovers. Sure, they have a few sets of shelves devoted to back issues, but it's nothing like the vast expanse of long boxes in the back of Fat Jack's. As for their new release section, it's not particularly impressive, either. Just a few shelves stuck all the way in the back corner. I'm not sure I've ever gone there and found a copy of everything on my list for the week. They're always sold out of something. And this time they were sold out of three of the books I wanted. Now admittedly, I got there pretty late in the day, and the other shops I go to are occasionally sold out of stuff. But three books? C'mon, that's ridiculous.

So I'll be swinging by the Fat Jack's in Jersey tonight, if at all possible, to see if they still have copies of my missing books. And I'll be trying my best to avoid going to Brave New Worlds in the future.

I've got a new shirt for you. It's been a while. I had the idea for this one a long time ago, but only just now finally sat down and put it together. It's just the store logo slapped on a T-shirt. But hey, I like the logo! And I also like the idea of somebody walking around wearing this, spreading the URL of my shop like a disease. Catch it!

I went over to the Wegmans by us around 2:30 today to pick up a last minute item for Thanksgiving. As I was heading in, I noticed a small group of people (maybe a half dozen?) camped out in front of the Best Buy next door. And when I say camped out, I mean camped out. They were wearing parkas and sitting on chairs outside tents.

I can understand wanting to be the first in line to get the cool new gadget - I tried to do it myself for the Wii, and failed miserably - but 2:30 in the afternoon the day before? Are you crazy?? What are you going to do all those hours sitting in front of the Best Buy? Good lord.

My brother, because he is cool, made an awesome logo for the store, which you can see if you click on over there. I also used his art to create a couple of banner ads for the shop that will now appear randomly along with the usual Hulk banners at the top of the page on my site. If you were to put one of those banners on your own site, I would love you forever.

There's also another new shirt in the shop (the womens' equivalent of the "Irishmen for O'Bama" shirt I created a while back). I'm not sure it's going to make a lot of sense to keep those shirts on sale after the election, so buy them soon before they're gone! Also, keep in mind that the holidays are coming up, and a shirt from Fëanor and Poppy's Cabinet of Wearable Curiosities would be a unique and amusing gift!

Okay, I'll stop with the ugly, naked attempts at advertising now.

Remember The Critic? That was a great show. I have the entire series on DVD if you want to borrow it. Anyway, there was a Misery parody episode where his biggest fan had kidnapped him and was keeping him captive in her apartment. She had all of his memorabilia, including a cardboard stand-up of him that had been in bookstores for a very short time. It was quickly removed from stores because it was incredibly annoying: it had a recording of his voice saying over and over again, "Buy my book! Buy my book!"

I feel like I'm doing that about my T-shirt store. "Buy my shirts! Buy my shirts!"

Anybody have any good ideas for advertising the shop without being too annoying, or spending too much (read: any) money?

OK, I'm not literally on fire. That would make it hard to blog. Heh heh. No, I'm figuratively on fire because I added FIVE (5) new T-shirts to my Cafepress store tonight, bringing the full total to TEN (10). You should definitely go check it out again. (Note to Vis Major: women's T-shirts are now represented, as well.)

You know the hardest thing about making T-shirts? Picking the font. Cooper Black is turning out to be my default, fall-back font. Which surprises me because I don't think I'd ever even heard of it before I started making T-shirts.
